I am happy to introduce you to Kelly Bulkeley, who wrote an analysis for this blog, and who will now be taking over the archiving of all the dreams people are having about Barack Obama, including dreams that were sent in but which I never managed to put on the site. Starting in July 2009, they will be on his site. I am very happy that this project will continue in another life.

The final posting to the site happens today: it is the exhaustive work of Dr. Robert Van De Castle, co-author of the classic, The Content Analysis of Dreams (1966) and noted dream researcher. It represents the work of many hours of labour on his part, on the part of Editorial Consultant and noted analyst, Dr. Carol D. Warner, and yours truly. Many emails flew threw the ether until the following PDF at last emerged.

Thanks to Robert and Carol for contributing their intelligence and time to this blog.

See-Through

Thank you to everyone who sent in their dreams (especially those whose dreams I was not able to put up, due to the usual course of events which prevent one from posting everyone's dream). Thanks also to those who covered this site in their blogs and in the paper and on the radio. A big thanks to all the readers of this site, especially those who wrote to me or posted comments. Last but not least, thank you to Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Barack Obama, without whom we would be dreaming about each other.

Silver

I have stopped posting dreams to the site. There are currently 333 dreams posted here, and the rest of life beckons. You are welcome to continue sending dreams to me, but I will do nothing with them. They will collect in a gmail account for future researchers on the State of the Union, should they contact me after my death and wish to know what people were dreaming about during this campaign season.

Due to having other things to do and other interests, I am winding down this site. Please keep sending me dreams. Before the end of the summer, I will post all the dreams I have been sent. (Right now, only half of the dreams I have been sent are on the site.) I still think this will make a very useful archive for humanity and even the animals.

I have started numbering all the dreams on the site so that Dr. van de Castle and others who are interested in using the site for research might have an easier time of it.

Researchers: please use the following method...

Hillary Clinton dreams: HC1, HC2, HC3 and so on...

Barack Obama dreams: BO1, BO2, BO3 and so on...

John McCain dreams: JM1, JM2, JM3 etcetera...

Dreams of both or three: COM1, you get the picture...

A woman name Jane sent in this dream:

My family was on vacation at an unknown resort and the Obama family was staying there also. We made friends and spent the whole weekend with them cooking out, making beer runs (myself and Michelle Obama) and just talking. I accidentally ran over a mail box on the property and Barack himself helped us rebuild it. My sense in the dream was that he was such a laid back, nice person.

In her email, Jane continues, writing:

It was a very pleasant dream, but here lies the problem: I just cannot vote for the man. I don't know anything about him and feel he has no real experience to lead us. One of my favorite sayings is "stick with the devil you know", so I feel it is my conscience to vote accordingly and I did so in the Texas primary. While it was a pleasant dream, I have had the experience of dreaming about something that looks one way in a pleasant dreaming setting, but when I take on the dream's "advice," it turned out to be wrong.

Others write to tell me that the pleasant dreams they have about Hillary or Barack make them more inclined in that candidate's favor, more likely to vote for them, less hostile toward them.

For some, the dreams seem to have as much, if not more sway than a news story.
